With each compartment holding half a gallon, this 5-frame, two compartment feeder sits on top of the hive boxes, just under the inner cover. Bees access the feeding area through an open slot that runs cross-ways in the middle. After syrup is poured into the compartments, pine slatted floats (sold separately) can be placed on top of the syrup, preventing drowning. The bottom is recessed 1/8″ to minimize rocking on burr comb left on the top bars of the box below it. When we assemble, seems are caulked to ensure that it is leak-proof.
