This solid, reversible, 8-frame bottom board stands on its own to serve an important purpose for the hive – a base as well as an entrance.
With the panel made from a high quality exterior 3/4″ plywood to reduce rot and resist warpage, as well as rims from Eastern White Pine, this bottom board is built to last.
After careful assembly and stapling, it is wax dipped. By boiling it in hot wax, the moisture is forced out and the wax if forced in.
Wax dipped hive components are known to last for 20 years or more with zero maintenance, and NO NEED to reapply wax later. Wax dipped hives CANNOT be painted, but instead preserves the beautiful, natural wood appearance. The wood color will steadily darken over time from exposure to the sun, but it won’t rot or deteriorate!
